Play and Train
Doggy Daycare

Dog Zone Services takes an individualized approach to daycare. We offer smaller group so we can take the time to understand each dogs strengths, identify where they can improve, and learn about what motivates them. From there we provide a custom mix of training, socialization, and exercise that’s best suited to that particular dog.

We use positive reinforcement to work on impulse control and to help train the basics: recalls, sits, and stays. With a foundation in place from these basics we can move on to shaping more advanced behaviours and engaging the dogs with more exciting activities!

This means we don’t need to spend time worrying about stopping problem behaviors because our dogs always have lots of constructive activities to keep them entertained and engaged throughout the day!

Our daycare dogs

A typical day at our doggie daycare consists of indoor and outdoor playtime, socializing, making new friends and nap time.

At the end of the day, your dog goes home with you both happy and fulfilled. Before you enroll your pet with Dog Zone Services, we would like to get to know your pup to ensure that she/he will integrate smoothly into the Play and Train program.

Play and Train assessment

While we strongly believe that there is no such thing as a bad breed or a bad dog, not every dog is suited for our off-leash, structured play and train environment. We take our doggie guests’ safety very seriously, so each one must first complete a thorough Meet & Greet to ensure that they are a good fit for our Play and Train.

For the assessment, please arrive with your dog on a leash with a collar, harness, or both in the parking lot and upon entry into the office. The evaluation process with your dog will take 2 hours with our trained evaluator.

WHAT TO EXPECT

You will be greeted by one of our staff, and the Meet & Greet is conducted on-site by one of our trained professionals. A typical Meet & Greet usually goes like this:

It begins with an overview of paperwork, history, and health with the pet parent.

After the overview, all owners will leave their pup in our capable hands.

Your pup joins our team member in an evaluation room to observe how they react when away from their guardians

During the evaluation, we conduct a nose to tail assessment to identify sensitivities in touch that your dog may have. If a dog is sensitive to touch in one area, this is not necessarily an issue, but it is important for their comfort that our team is aware of it.

We then bring a few additional dogs into the controlled mini play area one at a time to assess your pup’s comfort level. Our team member observes how they interact with the other dogs to assess their comfort with a play and train environment.

We will also assess their comfort level in a crate or suite, which are only used for rest, naptime, and feedings (when applicable).

If your dog meets our requirements for behavioural and social skills, and enjoys mixing with other dogs, we will be very happy to welcome them into our Play and Train program.

Since socialization at an early age is very important, we accept pups as young as 8 weeks as long as cleared by a vet. All attending dogs must be spayed or neutered if they are OVER the age of 14 months. Proof of applicable vaccinations required.
